The story of my struggle began December 7, 1941.  I was in bed sleeping with my young daughter sleeping in the bedroom at the Navy Housing off Plantation Drive.  I could see the Arizona burning.

First I heard planes approaching.  They were olive green with the sun painted on the plane.  A couple was staying with us.  They were waiting on housing.  We were all in front of the two story Navy Housing.  The planes were shooting at us.  My husband went to Hickam and later told us of the damage.
