Schofield Barracks
I was very much aware of the explosions coming from the battleships and other ships.  Damage on the air station was miserable along with our defense.  Of course the sunken battleships, including the Arizona, were with us for a long time.  Work on all of them proceeded slowly and was a sight we saw daily.  As the month went by, all except the Arizona were raised and the Oklahoma was rolled back over from it's capsized position.

I knew a few people from the battleships and none from the Arizona.  I was commissioned during the year after and assigned to the USS San Jacinto.  I served the rest of the war in the Pacific alternating between the 3rd and 5th battle groups.  I left the Navy in 1946.  Memories have faded and like most survivors I have finally grown old.
