Besby "Frank" Holmes was in the US Army Air Corps stationed at Haleiwa. Frank got up in the air in a P-36 from Haleiwa and attempted to engage the Japanese attackers. He was unable to locate any Japanese, but was forced to land due to friendly-fire from the ground. Frank's claim-to-fame is that he was part of the group that shot down Yamamoto. |
