I got into the service on June 2, 1941 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I took my boot camp at San Diego and arrived in Hawaii on November 25, 1941. We were beached at Pearl Harbor in a troop ship and lived in a tent camp at Red Hill 3 miles from Pearl Harbor. It was peacetime, so we had no ammo for our 30 caliber rifles to fire at the Jap zeros. |
