I was attached to the USS Solace, a hospital ship and I helped pick up a lot of the men off the ships. (It was a very bad day). After that day, we were at war and later I served on the USS Benham (DD-397), the USS Lexington (CV-2) and the USS Chicago (CA-29), all of which were sunk at different times but I made it back to the States.
