USS New Orleans

During the raid, yard power to the ship failed.  As the crew of the USS New Orleans struggled to serve the 5-inch AA battery by hand, Chaplain Lt. Howell M. Forgy exhorted them to make the best of the situation and to "praise the Lord and pass the ammunition" -  thus providing inspiration for one of the war's most popular songs.
