US Navy
USS Pennsylvania

I am a Pearl Harbor survivor.  However, in my particular case, there is not much to talk about.  There are many survivors with exciting tales to tell, some true and some not quite true.

I was on the USS Pennsylvania in the A Division.  Air defense was called on that fatal day and I reported to my air defense station located in the after air compressor room.  Subsequently, I reported to repair 5, located in the machine shop, where I served as a phone talker.

During the lull between the first and second waves, we of repair 5, were ordered topside to see if we could be of assistance to the USS Arizona.  Upon learning that we could be of no help, our party returned to our station in the machine shop.  End of story.
