Schofield Barracks
I was in the Army stationed at Schofield Barracks.  I was a buck sergeant in the medical corps, 24th medical battalion, ambulance company, (I had been hurt in the infantry).  I had gotten married in May, 1941.  My wife and I were asleep at the time of the bombing at 0755.

When I got to the general hospital, I found out that Pearl Harbor, Hickam Field, and Wheeler Field had been hit by the Japs.  Wheeler is about 5 miles from Schofield Barracks.  I rounded up some drivers and sent them to Wheeler to bring out the dead and wounded to the hospital.  We completely evacuated Wheeler Field without the loss of a man or vehicle.

After my wife was evacuated to the states, I put in for infantry G.C.S.  I was commissioned a 2nd Lt. In December, 1942.  After 20 years of service, I retired a captain of infantry.
